Are you commission, booth rent, or hourly? 

We are hourly OR commission. Whichever pay rate is higher. We believe in LIVABLE wages, not just minimum wages. Massage Therapists, and Esthetician’s begin at $12/hour. Cosmetologists and nail tech’s start at $10/hour. All associates start at $10/hour. Our culture includes high expectations with pay raises, sky’s the limit! 

What if I can’t meet super high expectations?

We believe in earning walk ins. Because it is our duty as your team to teach you how to grow your business within ours. Our guests have learned to trust our SP’s in any level. You should have the confidence to serve those guests. Our expectations are printed in our Hitchhikers Guide and Associate programs. Some feel our expectations are high. Some feel it is part of being a luxury brand. Transparency is important to us, and to your success. We invite questions to help guide you, if this is your new spalon home. 

What EXACTLY is an associate?

An associate is someone who has graduated from cosmetology, massage therapy, esthetician, or nail technician school already. They are looking to earn their equivalent of a Master’s degree in their equivalent vocation. As an associate you will have a mentor you work with every day as a second set of hands. YOU ARE NOT A SHAMPOO B*TCH. You will color, massage, do nails, just as your mentor does. You will be paid during this time. You earn your way to the floor with guided metrics and quizzes. (We promise no trick questions.)

I’ve been a licensed professional elsewhere already, do you expect me to go through the associate program too?

We respectfully ask you to go through a blended version based on your demand on time. We are not interested in torturing anyone. For example, Sarah with ten years of experience went through a two week “associate” program to see what it felt like, learn verbiage and learn how our systems worked. She was able to take guests two weeks after starting with us. 

Do you accept experienced stylists, estheticians, massage therapists, or nail technicians?

Absolutely, We are looking for kind, open, and willing to learn individuals to join our team anytime! The hiring process will be the same for everyone.

Absolutely, our associate program is created just for you!

What is your hiring process?

There are three “interview” steps, and then a two week working interview. The first three interviews aren’t your typical interviews. The first step is setting a time to tour the spalon. We want you to get a feel for who we are. Do we fit your vibe? The second step is the more serious interview where a team member will ask some questions. More importantly, they will answer your questions. Honestly. “Boss Lady” doesn’t usually do the interviews, this way you get the most from your time with your future team. The third step is to shadow for a couple hours, see if we are really who we say we are. 

The Working Interview is two weeks paid at minimum wage. You will learn our systems, from answering phones to making appointments to what’s expected of you. Your training will be time spent with your team to learn everyone’s personality. At the end of the two weeks, the team will vote to invite you permanently. 

We believe your team should choose you. Just as you should choose your team. 

Is there drama?

Our rule for issues is 24 hours and go straight to the source. Anyone that has an inkling for drama is asked to leave our company. Life is too short to live reacting to other’s drama. That being said, we do believe in supporting each other. Lifting each other up and bringing your own amazing energy to the team. 

What if the “boss” is wrong?

Kindness is key. If something is broken, fix it. We have monthly personal development meetings that allow us to help you grow, and stay in touch. It also allows that if you have an issue, you are guaranteed a time to bring it up. She is not the smartest person here, and never will be. All ideas are welcome, AND encouraged. 

How many days do I have to work? What is full time?

A full time employee is 32 hours a week. Your days per week should be decided on YOUR happiness factor. Do you need time to be home with family? Do you need to make a certain amount per month? We are not a cookie cutter company. Your happiness keeps us happy too. 

Will I have to work nights and weekends?

Short answer, yes. Long answer, not forever. You can earn your way to 9a-2p and no Saturdays if that is your main goal. If we know what your priorities and goals are, we can help you achieve them. . 

Do you offer benefits?

YES. We offer education benefits both in salon and fiscally, matched retirement, and paid vacation. There are a few more that are just fun you can ask about when you are onboarded. All benefits are dependant on your level of time with the team and level within the team. 

How often can I take vacation time?

How often do you need to refresh? We have no limit on how many days per year you want to take off. We may ask you to switch a weekend or a day to better serve your team and your finances. There is a 60 day request policy to ensure that we do not have to move guests that have reserved your time. (Though we understand things come up and always encourage you to ask.)
